Gynecomastia Excision/Male Breast Reduction

Male breast development can occur in many different degrees, anything from a fully developed breast to enlargement beneath the nipple. Gynecomastia causes the overdevelopment of the male breasts which leads to the swelling of glandular tissue. Fat accumulation can also occur which exacerbates the issue. Treatment is considered after all medical conditions that may be responsible are ruled out.

Surgery consists of either liposuction, excision of breast tissue, or a combination of the two. Recovery is about 2 weeks.

Your Consultation

Patients will need to schedule a consultation for gynecomastia excision. They will be given information regarding the procedure and what steps will be involved. Patients are encouraged to bring up any questions or concerns.

Patients will also need to provide details that are crucial for planning the procedure, such as their medical history. This will include past procedures, allergies, current medications, and pre-existing conditions. Their chest will be examined, and photographs may be taken.

Instructions regarding the proper care of the affected areas will be provided, and patients will need to follow these directions carefully. Medication will be prescribed to address any discomfort that patients might experience and to prevent infection.

Time off from work will be required. Patients will need to avoid sports, heavy exercise, and any other physically strenuous activities.
