Fat Transfers Considerations
During your Fat Transfers consultation with Jonathan Heistein, M.D., he will answer questions you may have about the procedure or treatment and will discuss any safety concerns related to the surgery.
Fat transfers are used in a variety of situations and may be performed anywhere on the body. The main premise is replacing volume that has been lost either due to the aging process, following weight loss, or to simply accentuate an area (the buttock for example).
Fat is a common choice to restore lost volume because it is easily harvested from almost anywhere on the body with minimal scarring, there is no risk of an allergic reaction, and a portion of the transferred fat will become permanent.
The fat harvested procedure is harvested from an area of the body with excess fat like the abdomen, back, or thighs. This will provide the additional benefits of slimming down certain problem areas to help bring balance to the proportions of your figure.
The first step of the process will be meeting with Dr. Heistein for your fat transfer consultation in Fort Worth. During your consultation, Dr. Heistein will ask about the areas of the body you want to address and what your desired results are for your fat transfer.
During the procedure, the fat will be harvested from the body using liposuction. The harvested fat will then be purified and processed so that it can be injected into the desired areas of the body. Dr. Heistein will carefully inject precise amounts of fat to give the treated areas the desired size and contour.
Repeat sessions can then be used to tailor the final volume following your initial fat transfer procedure. Recovery is usually about 1 week, depending on the area(s) treated.
There will be some swelling and bruising around the areas where the fat was harvested that will subside over time. There will also be some bruising and swelling where the fat was injected. Post-operative instructions will be provided following your fat transfer in Fort Worth.
